Cavan arrests part of operation targeting men wanted for alleged crimes abroad
Gardaí carried out "three days of action" in Cavan and elsewhere targeting persons sought for serious crimes in other jurisdictions.
The "days of action" happened from Monday through to Wednesday, November 3-5 and were led by the Garda Extradition Unit. Support was provided by members attached to other sections of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 11 men who have been brought before the High Court for offences including, attempted murder, supply of drugs, kidnapping, facilitation of illegal immigration, human trafficking, theft and road traffic offences that were committed in other jurisdictions including Northern Ireland, Poland, Romania, Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Germany and Lithuania.
These arrests occurred in Dublin, Cavan, Meath and Monaghan.
As these matters are currently remanded before the High Court An Garda Síochána will not make further comment.
