Leading birds expert to give talk this evening
One of the country's leading experts on waders will give an eagerly anticipated talk in Cavan Town this evening.
Owen Murphy, the senior project manager with the Breeding Waders EIP (Breeding Waders EIP), to deliver a talk on wader conservation.
Owen is a frequent contributor to discussions on birds on RTÉ and recently featured on the excellent 'In your Nature' podcast.
This evening's event, hosted by Birdwatch Ireland, will be held in the Bridge Street Centre on Wednesday, November 12 at 7.30pm.
"Examples of wading birds that we would encounter are curlew, snipe, lapwing and oystercatcher," explained Thomas Broe, chairperson of Birdwatch Ireland's Cavan branch. "We are more likely to see the birds wintering on floodplains and close to lakes, but some waders like snipe do breed in Cavan."
Talk will take place in the boardroom (on the top floor) of the Bridge Street Centre (Eircode H12 WC52). There is a lift on the ground floor. There will be a Questions & Answers session after the talk, and tea and biscuits.
