Mealiff family sell Hotel Kilmore after 20 years
The sale comes just months after the Mealiff family celebrated 20 years in business in the Kilmore
HOTEL Kilmore, Cavan has been sold.
The surprise announcement was made by the Kilmore’s new owners, the O’Callaghan family who already own The Gateway and Fairways Hotels in Dundalk and the Keadeen Hotel in Kildare.
And the news comes just five months after hotelier Kate Mealiff denied an Irish Times newspaper report that said the Kilmore was for sale in June.
That report emerged just as the Kilmore was about to celebrate 20 years under the ownership of the Mealiff family on June 13.
At the time, well-known hotelier, Kate Mealiff said it was “business as usual” at the Kilmore and told the Celt “The hotel is not sold, it’s not for sale and that’s it.”
This evening, a statement from new owners, the O’Callaghan family said their focus will be on “on continuity, guest experience enhancement, and community — ensuring that Hotel Kilmore’s proud reputation for exceptional hospitality, weddings, events and guest experiences continues to thrive.”
Kate, James and Hannah Mealiff, who have owned and operated Hotel Kilmore since 2005 expressed confidence in the new ownership.
“We are incredibly proud of Hotel Kilmore’s success over the past 20 years” they said in a statement. “We are so pleased to have found a business that shares our values and aims to further build on our success.”
The deal was brokered by CBRE.
