Cavan IFA chairman elected to regional position

Maurice Brady elected Ulster/North Leinster chair

The chairperson of Cavan Irish Farmers Association, Maurice Brady, has been elected Ulster/Nth Leinster regional chairperson.

He received 1,229 votes to 707 for Kevin Sweeney at the election count in the Irish Farm Centre today.

Mr Brady thanked everybody who turned out to vote in the election and said he looked forward to working for farmers in the region.

“The seven debates across the county executives were a valuable exercise and allowed us to hear the views and concerns of farmers. I will bring those issues and challenges to the National Officers’ Committee when I take up the role,” he said.

IFA president, Francie Gorman, thanked the two candidates for putting themselves forward for election.

“It’s important that those who represent farmers are elected by farmers. They bring a perspective to the debate that others do not have. I look forward to working with Maurice Brady and I know he will represent the farmers in the region with commitment and diligence.”

Maurice Brady will begin his four-year term at the IFA AGM in 2026.
