Uninsured HGV attempted U-turn on N3

A routine Sunday evening checkpoint near Lavey turned dramatic when officers from the Cavan Roads Policing Unit watched as a livestock lorry suddenly attempted to execute a sharp U-turn in the middle of the N3.

Gardaí swiftly intercepted the lorry, which was seized on the spot under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act after it was found that the HGV was being driven with no insurance.

The driver is now facing a court date.

Just hours later, Cavan Roads Policing Unit stopped yet another uninsured motorist - the driver of a red VW Golf, also found to be on the road without insurance.
