Cavan joins regional enterprise promotion in London

Representatives from Cavan County Council joined their counterparts from Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon in London to promote the Upper Shannon-Erne region as an attractive destination for investment.

Taking place at the Irish Embassy in Grosvenor Place, the event saw business leaders from this region come together with leading UK business figures to showcase opportunities for greater business dealings and increased cooperation.

The event featured a keynote address by IDA Ireland CEO Michael Lohan and also included a panel comprising leading business figures in the Upper-Shannon Erne region, with Caroline Ashe Brady from Cavan’s Kore Insulation among the participants. Paul Gilcreest, CEO of local company Trave, based in the Cavan Digital Hub, was also among the travelling contingent.

Cavan County Council was represented by Cathaoirleach Cllr John Paul Feeley, Chief Executive Eoin Doyle, Director of Service Paddy Connaughton, Town Regeneration Officer Caroline Brady, and Head of Enterprise at Local Enterprise Office Cavan, Conor Craven.

Speaking following the event, Cathaoirleach, Cllr John Paul Feeley said: “This gathering was a unique opportunity for Cavan to showcase our many positive attributes including a skilled, highly educated workforce, entrepreneurial spirit, and convenient location, all of which makes our county an ideal location for UK firms looking to expand their operations or explore new markets.”

Chief Executive Eoin Doyle added: “What was clear from this event is that there already exists a strong connection between Cavan and the UK, with several members of the Cavan diaspora forging a successful path across the Irish sea, and many Cavan firms enjoying great success in the UK market. We at Cavan County Council believe these links can be built upon and greater progress remains to be made, not least in terms of attracting inward investment. This event has been an excellent opportunity in terms of developing these relationships, and we will continue to spread the message that Cavan is a dynamic, attractive, and competitive destination for business and investment.”
