Respond welcomes 70 tenants to new homes in Cavan
Seventy people, including 50 adults and 20 children, are set to move into their new homes on the outskirts of Cavan Town just in time for Christmas.
Respond, one of Ireland’s largest construction-led Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs), is delighted to welcome tenants into their "forever homes" this week at Riverpark, Swellan, Cavan.
The Riverpark development is being delivered in three phases. Phase One, now complete, includes 30 homes – 12 houses, 10 bungalows, and eight duplexes. Seventy people will move in over the coming weeks leading to Christmas. Phase Two will deliver a further 38 homes, followed by 26 more homes in Phase Three, bringing the full development to 94 high-quality homes.
These homes were delivered through a combination of funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage through the Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF), alongside finance from the Housing Finance Agency. Construction was led by Woodford Developments Limited.
Tenant experience
All homes are designed and built to high-quality, sustainable standards, with A-rated BER ensuring energy efficiency and help reduce running costs for tenants.
Swellan Lower is located on the edge of Cavan Town, with scenic surroundings including Swellan Lake and green areas. Tenants have convenient access to shops, supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants. The town is well served by the Local Link bus services, available for easy transport to the town centre.
Respond’s Tenant Experience Team has said it will support tenants throughout their move in and beyond, ensuring a strong sense of community from day one.
A foundation for strong community

At Respond, we believe that a home provides the foundation for stability, security and wellbeing, and developments like Riverpark are a testament to what can be achieved through strong partnership and collaboration.
“These high-quality, energy efficient homes will provide not only comfort and security, but also the opportunity for families and individuals to thrive as part of a strong community. We look forward to seeing this new neighbourhood grow and flourish in the years ahead.’’
This project, she said, demonstrates the "power of partnership" between Respond, Cavan County Council and national housing partners in "addressing housing needs and delivering lasting, sustainable communities".
Respond currently provides homes for over 20,000 people in more than 9,000 homes across Ireland. The organisation has approximately 3,500 homes under construction, as it accelerates delivery of social and cost rental housing nationwide.
