Above-the-shop grant can fast-track homes in Cavan – Senator O’Reilly
A new grant to bring vacant space back into use can play a big role in delivering homes for key workers in Cavan, a Fine Gael Senator has said.
The new grant supports the conversion of upper floors that have been vacant for at least two years, with funding of up to €95,000 for a single unit and additional top-ups where multiple homes are delivered. A further €5,000 is available for professional advice a barrier that previously stalled many conversions at feasibility stage.
Senator Joe O’Reilly said: “This grant will unlock homes, which can be delivered quickly in Cavan, without waiting years for new developments.
“Every time we bring residents back to our town centres, we strengthen local businesses, increase footfall and improve overall safety.
Senator Joe O’Reilly claimed Fine Gael has always believed in practical solutions to housing.
“This grant is a clear example of that approach by taking under-used space and turning it into affordable homes for families and communities in Cavan.”
