A project to reframe our understanding of nature

A new project aims to reframe our understanding and appreciation of nature through art, and celebrate the beauty and heritage of Cavan.

Community groups and individuals are being encouraged to get involved in 'Reframing Nature', an innovative three-week online creativity project designed to immerse participants in the rich biodiversity and heritage of Cavan. This exciting project will culminate in what promises to be a captivating digital exhibition in March 2025.

Led by interdisciplinary artist and producer Karina Charles, in collaboration with Jago Studio, 'Reframing Nature' offers participants of all ages to embark on a personal creative journey.

Through a series of high-quality, short film-like pre-recorded videos, participants will be guided to creatively explore the themes of Cavan's flora and fauna, rivers and lakes, and built heritage.

“Community groups, nursing homes, and individuals are encouraged to engage with the project, bringing creativity into their towns, villages, or rural areas,” said Karina. “Whether you're a visual artist, poet, potter, or musician, 'Reframing Nature' welcomes all art forms.

“Participants will have the opportunity to capture their artistic expressions through photography, which will be showcased in a digital exhibition.”

The project is designed to be inclusive and accessible, with videos available in formats like MP4 and on Youtube it will be delivered online starting in February 2025.

Karina Charles hopes to inspire community groups to take on this creative challenge, fostering a deeper artistic connection to the natural world and these video resources are available for any group to take on.

All artistic works created during the “Reframing Nature” project will be exhibited in a digital format in March 2025, celebrating the collective creativity and connection to Cavan's heritage.
