Fourteen arrests for public order
Gardaí in Cavan carried out a total of 14 arrests over the Christmas period of people engaging in public order offences.
The arrests come as local gardaí attached to the Cavan Community Engagement Functional Area launched a High Visibility Campaign for the town and county. This will continue into early January, with the aim of tackling issues around retail crime and to alsso present a robust approach in the face of potential anti-social behaviour.
The 14 arrests were recorded between December 20 and 28, although a significant number of those relate to a specific incident where five people were arrested following a public order incident at a local hotel just before Christmas. The five have all since appeared in court, bailed, and remanded to appear on another date.
Gardaí have been on patrol in the Community Van during their visits to many towns over the Christmas period.
