The death has occurred of Michael A. (Mick) Duffy. Retired Detective Garda. 'Penny Bridge', Mullinary, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan & formerly Cartrons, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. 5th January 2026. Peacefully, surrounded by his cherished family, in the exceptional care of the staff of Newgrange ward, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary and son Colm & his parents Pat & Mamie.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his beloved family; his son Paul (Breda) & his daughters Catriona (Luke Carroll) & Olivia (Turlough Keenan), his much-loved grandchildren; Dearbhla, Eoghan, Cliodhna, Edel, Padraig, Dara, Emer, Ciara, Abbey & Michael, his brother Paddy, his sisters-in-law; Betty Duffy, Bernadette Toolan & Deirdre Hunt, his nephews, nieces, extended family, friends & neighbours.

Mick will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 D328, on Wednesday, 7th January, from 4pm until 8pm.

Mick's funeral cortège will leave his home, 'Penny Bridge', Mullinary, on Thursday, 8th January, proceeding on foot via the Pound, the Bridewell & Main Street to St. Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Shelly (Michelle) Hughes

Bree, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Shelly (Michelle) Hughes, Bree, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, peacefully, in the care of the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday 4th January 2026. Predeceased by her grandparents, Bridie and Patrick Hughes and Tom McKeever and all recently deceased members of the Hughes and McKeever families. Deeply regretted, and lovingly missed by her heartbroken family, daughter Vadah (Michael), parents Josie and Frank, brothers and sisters, John, Thomas (Joanne), Jenny, Kieran, Linda(JR) and Francis, Granny McKeever, nieces, nephew, extended family and friends.

Shelly will repose privately among her family at her parents home in Bree from Thursday. Removal on Saturday morning at 10:15 am, (walking from Quinns Butchers) arriving to St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney for requiem mass at 11 am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful death of Don McCrossan, Corryagan, Donaghmoyne, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Raphoe Co. Donegal after a short illness at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda in the dedicated care of all the team and with his family by his side, Monday 5th January 2026.

Predeceased by his darling infant daughters Deborah and Mary, his grandson baby Adrian, parents Mary Ann and William McCrossan, brothers Mickey, Pat, Liam, Tommy, Eddie, Sean and Barney; sisters Susan, May and Lizzie. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend Kathleen, his son Adrian and daughter in law Kathryn, his cherished and adored grandchildren Jonathan (Natasha) and Lauren (Jack), his precious and so loved great grandchildren Layla Rose & Lorcán, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Mary McGahon (née McEneaney), 49 Cloughvalley, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Monday, 5th January 2025. Predeceased by her husband Thomas. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving sons Martin and Oliver, brothers Eamonn and Martin, sisters Rosie and Briege brothers-in-law Owenie and Sean, sister-in-law Bridie, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.

The Funeral Cortege will leave Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross on Wednesday morning driving via Rockdaniel Road, and on foot from Cloughvalley via Farney Street to St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross, A81 K253, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Carrickmacross.

The death has occurred of Marina McGarry, (nee Bourke), formerly 41-42 Fermanagh St, Clones, (McGarry's Drapers) and 7 Largy Court, Clones, Co. Monaghan, Monday, 5th January 2026, peacefully in the excellent care of the staff of Oak View, Nursing Home, Belturbet, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Norman her daughter Michelle and her son-in-law Dan.

Cherished and adored mother of Gerry (Kathleen), Annette (Sean), Norma (Tom), John (Maria), Siobhan, Marina (Monica), Niamh (Declan) and Paul (Ann). Marina will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her sons, daughters and their partners, grandchildren, Katie, Ross, Daniel, Philip, Michelle, Paddy, Joseph, Alan, Jack, Noah, Keela, Michael, Sean, Connie, Christian and Matthew, great-grandchildren, Sophia, Alannah, Meya and Bella, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Marina.
