No injuries reported after N16 crash
Temperatures frequently dipped to lows of around -1°C to -3°C overnight.
Gardaí assisted by the local fire service, attended the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the N16 between Manorhamilton and Blacklion on Monday night.
Fortunately, the driver involved escaped without serious injury and was able to walk away from the incident.
Gardaí in the area say that road conditions remained challenging following hard frost and some wintry showers over the weekend.
The region experienced a sharp cold snap with temperatures frequently dipping to lows of around -3°C to -5°C overnight in some places, with frost, black ice, and icy patches reported on many rural and regional roads, contributing to hazardous travel conditions.
These conditions prompted a Status Yellow weather warnings for snow, ice, and low temperatures across the counties, and local authorities urged motorists to travel with extreme caution, adjust speed to conditions, and expect black ice on bridges and shaded sections of road.
