Gallows Hill Greenspace Masterplan
Plans to transform Gallows Hill in Carrickmacross into a high-quality, accessible public greenspace are approaching a key milestone.
Funding secured through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme has enabled the preparation of a detailed Greenspace Masterplan, providing a clear framework for the delivery of a new amenity area at the northern end of the town.
The Masterplan places a strong emphasis on usability, accessibility, biodiversity, and recreation for the area, and features in the Carrickmacross Town Centre First Plan, with the aim to purposefully develop the circa hectares north of the District Courthouse, off Main Street, in a way that aligns with community needs and the town’s wider strategic vision.
The lands are currently zoned for recreation and amenity and it is anticipated a Part 8 planning application will be submitted in early 2026, allowing both the public and elected members to formally consider the proposals.
The update was provided to elected members in the Carrickmacross–Castleblayney Municipal District, when they met for their December meeting at Castleblayney Library.
