Time to enter the Monaghan Business & Tourism Awards

Entries are now invited for the inaugural Monaghan Business & Tourism Awards.

The event, which seeks to celebrate and promote the best and brightest businesses across a range of sectors in the Farney county, will take place on April 17 in the Nuremore Hotel in Carrickmacross.

It’s being organised by The Anglo-Celt in partnership with Monaghan County Council and associate sponsors.

The range of categories featured include best in innovation, to customer service, best family business, best newcomer and special awards for agri-food and green businesses (see full list on page 10 of this week's Celt).

Councillor P.J. O’Hanlon, Cathaoirleach, Monaghan County Council, said it is “particularly fitting” that the launch took place at the newly reopened Nuremore Hotel in Carrickmacross.

“From tourism providers and hospitality businesses to retailers, agri-food producers, manufacturers, and emerging innovators, these awards shine a light on the ambition, resilience, creativity, and commitment of those who contribute so much to the economic and social life of County Monaghan.

“I strongly encourage all eligible businesses and organisations to get involved and take part,” said Cllr O’Hanlon.

Robert Burns, Chief Executive, Monaghan County Council, commended the Celt for the initiative and said the local authority is delighted to be a partner in the programme.

“Beyond celebrating excellence, this event aims to promote a strong sense of local pride, enhance collaboration and networking across all sectors, and showcase the very best of what County Monaghan has to offer.”

He said that the awards “create a platform that not only recognises outstanding achievement but also encourages businesses of every size to continue striving, innovating, and growing”.

Event co-ordinator, Mary McGuigan, thanked all those who are supporting the initiative. She expressed her gratitude, in particular, to Pamela Kerr, Head of Enterprise with the Monaghan Local Enterprise Office for her “enthusiasm and support in putting these awards together”.

Among the other sponsors praised were AIB Monaghan and manager, Aoife Mackie, who will host a Pitch Night on Thursday evening, March 26, in the branch for all the finalists in advance of the main event.

Enterprising Monaghan, under the auspices of Finbarr Daly, CEO, is also sponsoring the event; as are Fine Living Ltd a company that specialises in designing and building bespoke timber frame homes in Ireland under the direction of CEO Ciaran Byrne.

The Nuremore Hotel and County Club serve as host sponsors for the gala awards. “Thanks to Dennis McGettigan and Helen Brennan for their hospitality to us”.

Businesses and their customers/clients are being urged to check out the categories and enter here.
