Over €15k in Baby Theo's memory

A family from Redhills raised over €15,000 for the Maternity Unit at Drogheda Hospital in memory of their baby boy Theo who was born sleeping almost three years ago.

The McCaffrey family - Sinead, Conor and their daughter Ayda - hosted a community fundraising day in Redhills GFC as a way to say thanks to those who helped them on that difficult day, March 14, 2023.

The fundraiser featured a Mothers and Others Blitz, Family Sports Day, and Car Treasure Hunt, followed by live music and a raffle in Murphy’s Pub. An incredible €15,650 was raised in baby Theo’s memory.

Mum Sinead said thousands were raised in advance from a Pony Poop Draw - 240 squares were sold at €20 each and the pony did the rest!

The prizes for the draw and raffle were all donated.

Support

Sinead revealed it was hoped the fundraiser would facilitate the purchase of a new cuddle cot for the hospital, which costs £3,000 stg.

Drogheda couldn't believe the amount raised and the McCaffrey family say they owe a debt of gratitude to all who donated, volunteered or spread word. They hope their efforts will go on to help many families like in the years to come. Asked if this would become an annual event, Sinead said: “It was a one-off. That day was great for the kids and the weather was fantastic for the time of year. People wanted us to do it again and we had no problem with that, but we couldn't ask people for money again.”
