Singer and TV personality Louise Redknapp has paid tribute to Caroline Flack on the sixth anniversary of her death, saying it “never gets any easier”.
Flack, who was known for presenting Love Island, took her own life at the age of 40 on February 15th, 2020, after learning that prosecutors were going to press ahead with an assault charge after she hit her boyfriend Lewis Burton with her phone over concerns he had been cheating on her.
In a post on Instagram accompanied by a number of pictures of the pair together, Redknapp, 51, said: “To my beautiful friend, six years on this day will never get any easier for any of us.
“You brought so much light, laughter (with that laugh) and fun into my life and to this world, it still feels strange not seeing you on a Thursday night for a tequila, this song will always be for you.
“Thinking of your mum Christine, all the family and your friends today.
“You will live in our hearts forever, keep shining down on us all, we miss you beautiful girl.
“Everyone needs to remember that kindness is everything and being there for each other is so important, think before you leave that comment as kindness costs nothing. Be kind.”
Olly Murs, who presented The X Factor and The Xtra Factor with Flack, posted a picture of the pair hugging in the street.
The 41-year-old said: “Six years, and it still feels strange you’re not here.
“This photo was the first time we met in Birmingham, 2011, and after about five mins in a room we just clicked straight away. We walked out already laughing and giggling together.
“I miss those moments Caz, thinking of ya family today.”
Stars such as singer Pixie Lott, actress Denise Van Outen and This Morning star Ashley James also paid tribute, posting a heart on Redknapp’s post.
Flack, who was born in London and grew up in Norfolk, also won the 12th series of BBC dancing programme Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, with professional dancer Pasha Kovalev.
