Burglars interrupted during attempted break-in

Believed to be connected to second break-in in the town.

Two men, with faces covered and wearing dark clothing, fled in panic after they were interrupted breaking into the home of an elderly person in Ballyconnell last week.

The attempted burglary occurred at a premises on Main Street late on Tuesday, February 10.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the suspicious movement of persons in the west Cavan town, especially as they are also investigating a break-in at another property in the Mount Pleasant area.

Both incidents are believed to be connected.

Gardaí in neighbouring Leitrim are meanwhile investigating a break-in at a house in the Willowfield Road of Ballinamore two days later, sometime between 4pm and 7.15pm on Thursday, February 12.
