Affordable homes launched in Carrickmacross
A new affordable housing scheme promising a foothold on the property ladder for local families has been unveiled in Carrickmacross.
Monaghan County Council has announced the approval of 10 new homes at Sean Ghairdíní under the Affordable Purchase Scheme — the first such development in Carrickmacross and the second delivered in the county. The scheme includes four two-bed and six three-bed houses aimed at helping buyers secure high-quality homes at reduced prices.
Cathaoirleach P.J. O’Hanlon described the project as “another important step in supporting families to put down roots in our community”.
“Monaghan County Council is committed to ensuring that people can access high quality, secure and affordable housing close to schools, services, and local employment,” he said. “This development reflects our ongoing work to strengthen the future of Carrickmacross and the wider South Monaghan area.”
Chief Executive Robert Burns said tackling housing affordability remains central to the council’s agenda. “Providing access to affordable housing remains one of Monaghan County Council’s top priorities,” he said.
“These new homes will offer long term security for families and contribute to the continued social and economic vitality of Carrickmacross.”
A dedicated website and social media campaign launched last Friday, February 20, with newspaper advertisements scheduled for March 4 and 11.
