Permission granted for 10 homes
Ten detached dormer style dwellings are set to be developed in the Oldtown area on the outskirts of Cavan Town.
Pemfitz Holdings Ltd has secured planning permission for the development. It relates to houses numbered 16–25 of a previously-approved residential scheme and includes detached garages, internal roadways, footpaths, open space, connections to existing services and associated site works.
A total of 36 conditions have been attached to the grant of permission.
Significant further information was sought by the Planning Authority in a report dated December 11, 2025. The authority requested clarification and revised drawings in relation to the redesign of the site entrance and overall residential access.
The applicant submitted revised drawings and design details on January 15, 2026. The updated plans illustrated the redesigned main entrance, which demonstrates a sightline of 125 metres in each direction where the access meets the public road.
Plans also show the construction of retaining gabion baskets along embankments within the road frontage. In addition, sections of existing walls and piers are to be removed, along with roadside hedging and post-and-rail fencing.
The entrance meanwhile will be set back and reconfigured to ensure adequate traffic safety and visibility.
While the Municipal District office raised concerns regarding the condition of existing street lighting and footpaths within the development, it indicated that this matter would be addressed by way of a planning condition.
Development contributions totalling €55,160 are payable to the council as part of the permission.
