Grow Thrive Shine exhibition opens in Carrickmacross
Hub 21 celebrates young people with Down Syndrome
Hub 21 (formerly Down Syndrome Centre North East) in Carrickmacross is proud to launch “Grow Thrive Shine.” The specially-commissioned photographic exhibition celebrates its service users — children and young people with Down Syndrome from across Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath, Armagh and beyond. Grow Thrive Shine will launch on Monday, March 9 at 6pm and run in Carrickmacross Civic Offices until the last day of March. It’s free and all are welcome.
The exhibition features a striking series of portraits by local photographer Dalia Guzauskaite, who was tasked with capturing the unique beauty, personality and spirit of each child. The resulting images are joyful, moving, and full of character — an authentic celebration of confidence, individuality and belonging.
“This exhibition is more than a portrait series — it is a celebration of identity, inclusion and the vibrant personalities that make up the Hub 21 community. Timed to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day, it offers a meaningful opportunity to highlight the voices, talents and achievements of children and young people with Down Syndrome across the region,” Caitriona Crosby, Manager of Hub 21 commented.
The exhibition will officially launch on the evening of Monday, 9th March, and will run until 31st March, in the foyer of Carrickmacross Civic Offices, to mark World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March.
Mei Lin Yap, the first person in Ireland with an intellectual disability to receive an honorary doctorate, will be the guest speaker on the evening. A passionate advocate for inclusion and breaking down barriers, Mei Lin’s powerful story continues to inspire communities nationwide.
