The Would Be's hit the road
Cavan legends The Would Be’s are hitting the road, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most electrifying Irish returns in years.
The band kicks off their live tour at MJ O’Connor’s in Leitrim Village on April 18, before storming Whelan’s (upstairs) in Dublin on May 15, before capping it all off at the iconic Cavern Club, Liverpool, on May 26.
Hailing from the wider Kingscourt area, the band exploded onto the indie-pop scene in 1989 with their debut single, 'I’m Hardly Ever Wrong'.
The Finnegan brothers- Mattie, Paul, and Eamonn- wielding guitars, drums, and bass, Julie McDonnell on vocals, and the multi-instrumentalist Aideen O’Reilly on trombone, sax, and violin resurfaced quietly in 2012, releasing their first LP in 23 years 'Beautiful Mess' in 2013, followed by the Bittersweet EP in 2015, and a string of stand-out singles.
Their latest offering, ‘HindZeitgeist', was released last year and lauded in DJ Paul Cullen’s top 5 albums of 2025 and Paul McDermott’s top 10.
