Tender for houses in Kingscourt
Cavan County Council has issued a call for tenders for an architect-led design team to deliver a minimum of 20 new social housing units on Kells Road leading out of Kingscourt.
The public contract, valued under a 'Most Economically Advantageous Tender' (MEAT) framework, seeks comprehensive architectural, construction, engineering, and inspection services over a 45-month timeline, with a deadline for tenders due the end of this month.
The project forms part of the council’s adherence to the national Housing for All 2022–2026 strategy, which targets the delivery of 294 new builds, alongside partnerships with Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs). The Kells Road project joins a series of active and recently announced social housing initiatives across the county. Notable developments include Riverpark in Swellan, where tenants began moving in December 2025, and St Brigid’s Terrace in Cavan Town, which is transforming eight aging homes into 20 modern residences. Smaller projects are also underway in Kilnaleck, Killeshandra, Ballyjamesduff, and Cootehill.
Meanwhile, smaller regeneration projects, such as Widow’s Row in Cavan town, highlight the council’s commitment to revitalising derelict properties, replacing six dilapidated dwellings with nine fully serviced homes.
