Tell us about your business and team:

Martin Equipment was started two years ago and currently has five employees. The company manufactures agricultural machinery, but mainly specialises in slurry and manure handling equipment. The team is made up of welders, fabricators, assembling and designer engineers. Hands on people like the owner. Having started with building a dribble bar for his own use, Graeme Martin was made aware of the business potential. Now he has established a slurry equipment business which has built more than 500 units.

The best thing about the service according to owner Graeme Martin is that as a small company they focus very much on what the customer wants: “The business and the team members have experience working with the equipment as well, so when it comes to designing and manufacturing the equipment this gives the business a good idea of what will work and what won’t work.”

What’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given?

Most failed businesses are just a business that gave up too soon. Focus on your goal and do what it takes to get there.

What does the future hold for your business?

Martin Equipment plans to export equipment all over the world. It is currently already selling machinery into six different countries
