Outstanding Small to Medium Business Finalist

Tell us about your business and team:

Little Wonders is a specialised afterschool service providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children with complex needs. Its highly dedicated team is committed to delivering personalised 1 to 1 support tailored to each child’s individual strengths and goals. Through structured interventions, the team focus on skill acquisition, independence, and the development of meaningful social skills. Children are supported to learn, grow, and build confidence in a nurturing setting.

At Little Wonders they also organise outings and activities that encourage social interaction, real-life learning, and enjoyment. The team works with care, patience, and professionalism to ensure every child receives the guidance, encouragement, and the opportunities they need to thrive.

Describe the best thing about your service:

The most valuable part of our service is that it provides opportunities for children with complex needs who often cannot access afterschool care anywhere else, according to Little Wonders founder Claire Callan. “Many traditional services are not equipped to support these children, leaving families with very limited options but our specialised programme ensures every child receives dedicated 1 to 1 support so they can safely participate, build social connections, and enjoy activities alongside.”

For parents, this support is life-changing. It allows them to continue employment, maintain financial stability, and spend time with their other children, knowing their child is cared for in a safe, understanding, and inclusive environment where they truly belong.

What's the best business advice you've ever been given?

The best business advice Claire has been given is that resilience and purpose must guide every decision while building a specialised service for children with complex needs comes with challenges but staying focused on the families we support drives progress. “When your mission is clear, persistence and strong leadership help turn barriers into opportunities for meaningful impact.”

What does the future hold for your business?

Claire and the team are committed to expanding opportunities for children with complex needs. This year Little Wonders is moving to a larger premises and doubling capacity, with plans for a purpose-built centre and expansion across Monaghan and beyond.
