The Monaghan Street Food Festival is more than an event. It’s a celebration of who we are in Monaghan. Each year, we transform the centre of town from the Dawson Monument to the Diamond into a vibrant, welcoming space. Free for all to come with food trucks and artisan craftspeople, artisan producers from all across Monaghan, in fact, all across Ireland. It’s bringing people together. We’re run by a very small committee of volunteers who are dedicated to putting together the very best of Monaghan and showing it to the best of its ability.

Describe the best thing about your service:

The best thing about the Monaghan Street Food Festival is how it transforms Monaghan town into a buzzing street fair. We’ve become quite popular for vendors from all over. Visitors can enjoy live cooking demos from celebrity chefs in the Church Square, alongside street performers. It’s an event designed for people to explore, chat, taste and enjoy at their own pace, discovering something new around every corner.

What’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given?

The best advice the organising committee follow is to stay true to who they are. When you focus on what matters and do it well, people connect with it, and the rest naturally falls into place.

What does the future hold?

We plan to expand our events, including developing the Long Table Dinner, which we introduced in 2025 in Church Square - an open seating for 50 people with food from local restaurants and food trucks, live entertainment. We will continue to showcase local food, producers, crafts, and creativity. Our focus remains on delivering authentic, high-quality experiences that attract visitors and celebrate Monaghan.
