Cavan U16 Girls claim fifth consecutive Ulster title
Championship win after stunning comeback in Kinawley.
Cavan’s Under-16 girls have secured a and incredible and historic fifth consecutive Ulster Ladies Gaelic U16 Platinum Championship, defeating Tyrone in a thrilling final on Sunday.
Trailing 0-07 to 2-06 at halftime, the Cavan side staged a remarkable second-half comeback to overturn the deficit and claim victory with a final scoreline of 2-18 to 3-12.
Captain Aoife Rogers, joint vice-captains Shonagh Brennan and Doireann Brady, co-managers Doc Mulhall and Blathnaid Sheridan, selector Padraig Sheridan, FLO Kathy Clarke, the backroom team, families, clubs, and travelling supporters all celebrated the extraordinary achievement.
The team had gone through the group stage unbeaten, with managers Sheridan and Mulhall praising the strength and depth of the squad all over the field.
The team itself boasts a cohort of young player who are no strangers to success, winning medals at school, club, and county levels already.
The Ulster Champions will be back at the Imperial at 4pm to celebrate their homecoming.
