Investigations 'ongoing' after fatal house fire

Investigations are ongoing this evening after a man aged in his thirties died at a fatal house fire in Cavan Town this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal house fire at a residential property in Drumgola Wood, Co.Cavan this morning (Saturday).

A garda spokesperson said the alarm was raised at approximately 11:55am.

"A man, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene," the spokesperson confirmed.

"The body of the deceased has been removed from the scene to Cavan Mortuary where a post mortem will take place in due course. The local coroner has been notified."

The scene was preserved and a technical examination has taken place.

"Investigations ongoing," the garda spokesperson concluded.
