Colebrooke Park Flower Festival beckons
One of the finest estate houses in Fermanagh will host a flower festival next weekend for charity.
Colebrooke Park, the historic stately home of the Brooke family in Brookeborough will stage its flower festival from May 15-17.
For only the third time in 25 years, visitors are welcome to see the interior of the 18th-century house, with its magnificent stately rooms, rich in history and adorned with elegant furniture and artwork, gardens, walled garden and church, and there will be tea and facilities in the church hall. Proceeds from the event will be donated to three local charities, Lower Erne Community First Responders, Colebrooke Parish Church and a mental welfare charity that uses the estate’s gardens for horticultural therapy.
The ancestral home of the Brooke family since the 17th century, Colebrooke Estate spans over 1,500 acres of breathtaking Fermanagh countryside, including parkland, ancient woodlands and the serene Colebrooke River.
The enchanting walled garden, dating back to the early 1900s, has been carefully restored over the past decade and now boasts orchards of apple trees and a dazzling array of fruit and vegetables.
Stroll through the immaculately designed flower beds that surround the house and explore the tranquil sunken garden, complete with its beautiful pond. The extraordinary flower arrangements on display over the weekend are designed and curated by Timothy Elliot of the Manor Garden Centre in Lisnaskea.
The festival will run from 5-8pm on Friday, May 15, from 11am-6pm on Saturday, May 16 and from 12-6pm on Sunday, May 17.
