Annie is Our Lady's top student
In a proud celebration of student leadership, achievement, Annie Carroll, a sixth year student in Our Lady’s Secondary School Monaghan, was awarded the prestigious Gerald F. Gillanders Student of the Year Award for 2026.
Now in its 41st year, this distinguished award recognises students who exemplify leadership, commitment, and dedication within the Our Lady’s school community.
Held earlier this month, the award ceremony was attended by students, staff, and members of the Board of Management. It celebrates the enduring legacy of Gerald F. Gillanders, who served as Deputy Principal of Our Lady’s, until his untimely passing in 1984.
During the event, Principal Eddie Kelly congratulated Annie on her "exceptional contribution" to school life throughout her time at Our Lady’s.

“Annie has been a wonderful role model for younger students and has consistently demonstrated leadership, respect and a strong sense of appreciation for the many opportunities and experiences she received.”
“We are extremely proud of all she has achieved, and we wish her every success in the future.”
Mr Kelly also acknowledged the other nominees, thanking them for their significant contributions to the school community during their time at Our Lady’s.
