R191 reopens following sinkhole closure

The R191 Cootehill-Bailieborough Road has reopened to traffic after being closed for more than a week due to a sinkhole.

The route between Canningstown and Bailieborough had been closed since the last week of May after the sinkhole developed near the junction with the R165 Cavan–Bailieborough Road.

Road crews have been working to assess and repair the damage, allowing the road to reopen to motorists.

During the closure, diversions were put in place and motorists were advised to avoid the area while repair works were carried out.
