Carmel Brady set to become Cavan Cathaoirleach

She has previously served as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council (2017-18).

Fine Gael's Carmel Brady is set to become the next Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council.

Originally from Bunnoe and now residing in Tullyvin with her family, Cllr Brady has been a familiar and respected figure in local politics and community development for more than a decade in the Cootehill-Bailieborough Municipal District area.

Cllr Brady serves as a board member of CMETB and sits on the boards of St Aidan's Comprehensive School, St Bricin's College in Belturbet, Coláiste Dún an Rí in Kingscourt and Cavan Institute, Tanagh Outdoor Education and Training Centre, and Breifne College, Cavan.

She has previously served as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council (2017-18) and as Chairperson of Cavan-Monaghan Education and Training Board (2022-23).

She was added to the Fine Gael party's General Election ticket in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency ahead of the last General Election.
