Man dies following incident at Leitrim home

Gardaí attached to the Sligo-Leitrim Crime Functional Area were called to a house in Arderry area, located close to Drumcoura, between Ballinamore and Carrigallen, shortly after 9pm last night, June 11.

Their response followed reports of an incident at the property, and upon arrival emergency services personnel found a man age in his 40s “unresponsive”. Despite efforts to treat him at the scene, the man was pronounced dead a “short time later”.

A man in his 30s was subsequently arrested at the scene. He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Leitrim.
