Arva Agricultural Show ready for another successful year

Preparations are continuing at pace for the 2026 Arva Agricultural Show following the official launch of this year's event, which took place in the Breffni Arms last Saturday night.

A large attendance gathered for the launch where chairman Raymond Brady acted as master of ceremonies and outlined the extensive work currently underway to ensure another successful show. He reflected on the importance of the event to the local community and acknowledged the dedication of the many volunteers who continue to support the show, year after year.

Guest speakers on the night included Breifne O'Brien of AgriLand and Thomas Duffy from Virginia, a former President of Macra, both of whom highlighted the vital role agricultural shows play in showcasing rural life, farming excellence and community spirit. Main sponsor Padraig Brady of Brady's Arva Volkswagen also addressed those present and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the long-running event. He later presented the sponsorship cheque to chairman Raymond Brady, secretary Alannagh Finnegan and treasurer Elaine Cully.

Tea and refreshments were served as the launch concluded, providing an opportunity for exhibitors, committee members and supporters to meet and discuss plans for the upcoming show.

Now entering its 70th year since being established in 1956, Arva Agricultural Show remains one of the highlights of the summer calendar throughout the region. As well as attracting high-quality exhibits and competitions, the show provides an important social occasion where old acquaintances renew friendships and visitors enjoy a great day out. This year's show takes place on Sunday, July 26, in the Show Field, Arva, by kind permission of Philomena Fyfe.
