Lisa O’Neill announces Tour of Ulster

Ulster is the first of four provinces Cavan singer songwriter plans to tour.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lisa O’Neill has announced a special Tour of Ulster, bringing her music and full band to venues across all nine counties of her home province this September.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the tour, the Ballyhaise native said: “I grew up among the Drumlins where the Annalee River runs through a village called Ballyhaise in County Cavan. Over the decades I’ve toured a lot of this country but not yet every county. One of my influences, Margaret Barry, said she toured the thirty-two counties thirty-two times, up and down, over and back, villages, glens, cities and towns, markets and fairs."

She added: “To get the ball rolling this September, I look forward to hitting the first of four provinces by bringing my music and my band to play all nine Counties of Ulster, my home province.”

The tour begins on 9 September at An Grianán Theatre, Donegal, before continuing to the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, Monaghan (10 September), Sandino’s, Derry (11 September), Townhall Arts Centre, Cavan (12 September), Strule Arts Centre, Tyrone (16 September), Empire Music Hall, Belfast (19 September), and The Court House, Bangor (20 September).

Dates and venues for Fermanagh and Armagh will be announced soon, completing Lisa’s ambitious journey through all nine counties.
