Philip Kiernan

The death has occurred of Philip Kiernan Thursday August 6th 2026 peacefully in the loving care of his family and the staff of Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Mollie, parents Philip and Margaret, brothers Owen, Patrick, and sister May. Devoted father of Ann, Patrick (Packie) and Claudine. Philip will be very sadly missed by his loving family, son in law Gerry, daughter in law Arlene, his grandchildren Wayne, Jamie, Paddy and Alex, his nephews, nieces, all his family circle and many friends.

Philip will repose at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan H12C821 on Saturday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Removal on Sunday afternoon from the home of his daughter Claudine and husband Gerry, 3 Drumglen, Cavan to the Cathedral of Ss Patrick & Felim, Cavan arriving for Funeral Mass at 4pm. Via Wolfe Tone St. Following Mass, the cortege will travel to St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Killygarry, for committal prayers and burial in the family plot. Philip’s Funeral Mass can be viewed live here.

PJ McCaul, Aughnaskew, Scotshouse, Clones, Co. Monaghan, Thursday 6th August 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Pat and Bridie, and his brother Martin. PJ will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Kate, his daughters Edel (Matt), Amanda (Gary), his sons Barry (Emma) and Shane (Aoife), and grandchildren Aaron, Alyssa and Riley, his brothers and sisters Oliver, Sean, Paul, Mary, Kathleen and Noreen, and all his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Remains will be reposing in his home (Aughnaskew, H23TF67) this evening, Friday, from 5pm-9pm and on Saturday from 3pm-9pm. PJs Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday at 2pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Scotshouse, followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, for family, friends and neighbours. House private on Sunday morning please.

Please note a shuttle bus service will be in operation from Scotshouse Village, with no parking at the family home.

The death has occurred of Bernard Hughes. Crouch End, North London & formerly Belclare, Tuam, Co. Galway. 25th July 2026. Peacefully in North London, surrounded by his cherished family.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas & Christina and his brother PJ.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his beloved family; his wife Ann (née McConnell, formerly Monalia, Donaghmoyne), his daughter Emer (Tom) and his much-loved grandson Finn, his brother Eamon (Bernie), his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephew, nieces, relatives, neighbours & friends both in England & Ireland.

Bernard will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 D328, on Wednesday, 12th August from 5pm until 7pm.

Bernard's funeral cortège will leave the Funeral Home on Thursday, 13th August, proceeding to St. Lastra's Church, Donaghmoyne, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Pauline Mayclim, née Lynch, formerly of Analore, Newbliss and No 16 Ard An Chlochair, Clones, Co. Monaghan, Friday 7th August 2026. Peacefully in Broomfield House, ​​​​​​Castleross Nursing Home, in the excellent care of the staff and management, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband James, her daughter Julie (McDonnell), sons Phillip and Brian and her son-in-law Sean (Mc Caffrey).

Cherished and adored mother of Irean (Shamrock) and Jacinta (Ciaran). Pauline will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, Ciaran, Niamh, Aidan, Enda, Eimear, Jason, Conor, Darragh and Aoife, Great-grandchildren, sister Kay (Belfast), brother Jimmy (Birmingham), sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and by all who knew and loved Pauline.

Pauline's funeral procession will leave the residence of daughter Irean on Monday morning, 10th August, arriving at St. Laobhin's Church, Killeevan, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

We are saddened to announce the death of Cathal (Charlie) McElmeel, Aughacla, Tydavnet, Co.Monaghan, H18 YV04. Friday 7th August 2026, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a short illness.

Pre-deceased by his parents Charlie & Mary, his brother Jimmy, daughter Siobhan and granddaughter Cáit Barbara.

Michael James SHEERAN

SHEERAN, Michael James, 6th August 2026, Balbriggan and formerly of County Monaghan, (Peacefully), surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of staff at Moorehall Lodge Nursing Home, Balbriggan.

Beloved husband of Sheila and loving father of Christine, Lisa, Matthew and Jane. Predeceased by his sisters Anne, Breda, Marie and Nuala. Michael will be very sadly missed by his wife, son and daughters, sister Maeve, sons-in-law Pearse and Declan, daughter-in-law Susan, grandchildren Katie, Ellen, Padraig, Laura, Ellie, James, Jack, Liam, Ruby and Charlie and his great grandchildren Olive, Finn and Harry, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.
