Cavan Town & formerly of Ballyhaise Nuala died peacefully 12th August, 2026 surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Derick, granddaughters Anne and Siofrá and grandson Kieran, parents Marie and Thomas Plunkett, her brother John and sister Mary.

Sadly missed by her heartbroken family Rachael, Charlotte, Deborah, Derick, Louise and Carmel, her beloved grandchildren, sons-in-law, brothers Pat, Tom, Felim, sister Jo, uncles Fr. Tony and Des, extended family and many friends.

May she rest in peace

Nuala will repose at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12C821) on Friday evening from 4pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Ballyhaise on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Following mass, committal prayers and burial will take place in Cullies Cemetery in the family plot.

James Anthony Fanthorpe McHugh died on Tuesday August 11th, tragically following an accident.

Beloved son of Ann Marie McHugh and Dessie (Desmond) Fanthorpe.

Sadly missed by his loving parents, sister Majella, brothers Tony and Desmond, his daughter Arabella, grandmother Mary Carolan, aunts, uncles, cousins relatives and friends.

The death has occurred of Carmel Monaghan, (née Charity), 63, O'Neill Park, Clones, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, Wednesday 12th August 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Tommy, infant daughter Maura and her daughter-in-law Veronica.

Cherished and adored mother of Dessie, Thomas, (Eileen), Brendan, Gerry, Noeleen, Dolores, (Noel), Anne, (Leo) and Joe. Carmel will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Carmel.

Carmel will repose at Martin's Family Room, Newbliss, H18C962 on Thursday afternoon (13th) from 3pm to 7pm with removal at 7.30pm to the Sacred Heart Church, Clones arriving for 8pm.

Carmel’s Funeral Mass will take place on Friday (14th) at 11am, followed by burial in Mount St Oliver's Cemerery, Clones.

Helen Young (nee Smith) Carrickane, Cavan, H12 X665. Helen died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Charlie and Rose, and her brothers Pat and Aidan. Helen will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend Padraig, her daughters Anita and Maeve, her sons in law Fergal McLoughlin and Andrew McConnell, her adored grandchildren Roisin, Niamh, Fionn, Drew, Cian, Conor, Ted and Eve. Her brothers Charlie, Francis and Kevin, her sisters Bridie, Rosaleen, Carmel and Sheila, her brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Helen will be reposing at her home, Carrickane, Cavan, H12 X665 on Thursday from 4-8pm and Friday from 4-8pm. Helen’s Funeral Mass will take place in the Cathedral of St. Patrick and St. Felim, Cavan on Saturday morning at 11.30am. Interment afterwards in Cullies cemetery.

Eva Hand

Clones, Monaghan / Dublin

The death has occurred of Eva Hand, Dublin and formerly of Clones, Co. Monaghan, who passed away peacefully on 6th August 2026, in Dublin, after living a remarkable century-long life.

Eva is survived by her son, Derek, and her sister, Alice.

She was predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Lena Hand; her brothers, Brendan, Billy, Jerry and Jim; and her sisters, Blauna, Mary, Kathleen and Noreen.

Eva also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, including Lynette, Valentina, Rosemary, Michael, Paul, Brenden, Andrew, Billy, Robert and Aiden, along with many extended family members and friends.

May she Rest in Eternal Peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 17th August 2026, at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, Clones, Co. Monaghan, followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Eva was born on 26th October 1925, in Clones, Co. Monaghan, to Hugh and Lena (Ward) Hand. She spent much of her later years living a quiet and simple life in Dublin alongside her beloved sister, Noreen. During her final years, Eva was lovingly cared for by the dedicated and compassionate staff at CareChoice in Dublin, whose kindness and support brought great comfort to her and her family.

Eva's gentle spirit, quiet strength, and long life will be remembered with love by all who knew her.

The death has occured of Eugene Lynch, Lisdrumclave, Latton, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan A75XK83 peacefully in Saint Mary's nursing home.

Predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen, his parents Patrick and Kate, brothers and sisters and deceased members of his family.

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken family, daughter Patricia (Tom), sons Gerard (Teresa), Peadar (Deirdre), and Damien (Joanne), daughter in law Ann, adored grandchildren, Aoife, Bronagh, Cillian, Courtney, Amy Lee, Cathal, Paul, Claire, Adrian, Ronan, and Michael and their partners, great grandchildren, Lexi, Anna, Finn, Emer, Freddie, Ella, Isabelle, and Isla, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Eugene will repose at his home on Thursday 13th August from 2pm until 9pm. House private at all other times.

Eugene's remains will leave his home on Friday morning 14th August at 11.45am to arrive for funeral mass at 12 noon in Saint Mary's Church, Latton. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
