McVeety two pointer denies Arva at the death
Senior Football Championship
A breath-taking finale saw Crosserlough pinch the victory over Arva in a thrilling championship first round encounter at Kingspan Breffni.
With Crosserlough trailing Arva by a point in injury time courtesy of Jonathan McCabe's wonderful point, Harry Boylan won the resulting kickout and fed Dara McVeety. Having only come on as a substitute at half-time, the dependable captain launched a shot high into the Breffni air and over the bar to raise the orange flag.
The high scoring thriller had earlier included goals from McVeety and Emmet Boylan for Crosserlough; and for Arva, first half goals from Barry Donnelly and Thomas Partington.
After Thursday's exhilarating action, Crosserlough have a very short turn around as they now face Gowna on Saturday. After such a bruising defeat, Arva will have to pick themselves up for Sunday's encounter with Killygarry.
The Intermediate Championship takes centre stage this evening as Cootehill Celtic play Killinkere in Bailieborough. Both teams are waiting to get their championship off the ground as each have lost their opening two matches.
