Anyone who thought Cuchulainns’ Division 1 League title represented the peak of their powers was given a timely reminder on Sunday of just how dangerous Niall Lynch’s side can be.

The Mullagh and Cross men entered this derby against Ramor United as underdogs but emerged with a deserved two-point victory after a brilliantly entertaining encounter which contained almost everything – goals, two-pointers, turnovers, physical contests and, above all, fast and adventurous running football.

Cuchulainns certainly did not make life easy for themselves.

Ramor flew out of the traps and established a 1-4 to 0-0 advantage inside six minutes before eventually stretching their lead to nine points.

However, from there Ramor struggled to put together another sustained spell of scoring and Cuchulainns gradually took control.
