‘Heritage at Risk’ themed event at Castle Lake
The history, ecology and culture of Castle Lake will come under the spotlight on Saturday, August 22, as Friends of Castle Lake host an afternoon under the theme ‘Heritage at Risk’.
The free event begins at 12 noon at Drumkeery Carpark and will feature a programme of talks and cultural contributions exploring different aspects of the area’s heritage.
Ecologist Donna Mullen will speak about red squirrels, while historian Kevin V Mulligan will examine the landscape. Poet Fidel Hogan Walsh will also read from her work.
The afternoon will conclude with a fun duck race organised by Tony Gregory and Colette Gemmell, adding a light-hearted finale to an event focused on the protection and appreciation of local heritage.
The event is free and all are welcome.
