Farmers urged to seek support amid drought and financial pressure

ICSA Life Focus chair Mona O’Donoghue Concannon is urging farmers facing financial difficulties, drought-related pressures and concerns over fodder supplies to seek support before problems escalate.

She said the current situation is placing significant pressure on farmers, with potential impacts on families, relationships and mental health. Farmers struggling with cash flow are being encouraged to speak to their banks and advisers early, while family, friends and neighbours are also urged to look out for those who may be struggling.

ICSA Life Focus is highlighting its Staying Safe and Connected programme, supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. Farmer First Aid and Mental Health Support Sessions are being held nationwide throughout the autumn.

Ms O’Donoghue Concannon said farmers do not need to be in crisis to attend the sessions and encouraged them to make use of the support available.
