Dull and showery Sunday expected

Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to approximately 11°C.

The unsettled weather continues into Sunday, with Cavan and Monaghan facing a generally dull day and further outbreaks of rain or showers.

After Saturday's rain, there will be little sign of a return to prolonged sunshine on Sunday. The forecast suggests broken cloud and occasional showers across the two counties, with some brighter intervals possible between the wetter spells.

Temperatures will remain on the cool side for late August, reaching around 17°C during the afternoon in many areas. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to approximately 11°C.

The continuing combination of moisture and relatively humid conditions also means that agricultural conditions will remain challenging.

Met Éireann's latest farming commentary says drying and spraying conditions are expected to be moderate to poor over the coming period, while a potato blight advisory remains in place until Sunday evening.
