St Aidan's Diamond Jubilee
St Aidan’s Comprehensive is set to mark a major milestone, its 60th anniversary, honouring six decades of history under the theme ‘Past, Present, Future Together (1966–2026)’.
Past pupils, staff, families, and community members are warmly invited to join the anniversary festivities scheduled for Saturday, October 17.
The day’s events will kick off with a special photo exhibit ‘Walk Down Memory Lane’ running from 10:30am to 2:30pm, offering attendees a chance to browse historical photography and reminisce about the school’s heritage. The main school doors will open to the public with light refreshments served throughout the gathering.
Sports enthusiasts can look forward to The Jonny Mac Tournament (named after former teacher John Mc Dermott), featuring a match between Monaghan and Cavan past pupils. Throw-in is scheduled for 12 noon at the Pete Ward Pitch, with live commentary provided by Sean McCaffrey.
Organisers welcome all to attend as the school community comes together for a day of remembering our past, celebrating our present and looking with hope to the future.
Transition Year
and LCA Trip
Students from the Transition Year (TY) and Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) classes took part in a memorable bonding trip to Emerald Park recently, combining thrilling adventures with team-building outside the classroom.
The day featured plenty of laughter and excitement as students braved the park’s famous rollercoasters and attractions. Thank you to Ms Marren for organising the trip and the students as usual conducted themselves really well.
Sustainability
Students in the Transition Year Sustainability programme have turned their attention to the upcoming season as they begin preparations to brighten their school grounds for the Spring.
Our students recently participated in hands-on workshops focused on horticulture and seasonal planting. After studying the core principles of bulb cultivation in the classroom, the group put theory into practice outdoors, planting daffodil bulbs across the grounds.
We are now looking forward to yellow blooms when spring arrives!
Open Evening
Prospective students and parents visited the school for Open Night last Thursday where they got a chance to tour the facilities, meet the teaching staff, and learn about the wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities available at the school.
School Principal Ms Flanagan and her staff look forward to welcoming the next generation of students through the doors.
To add to the excitement, all 6th class students who attended the Open Night will be automatically entered into a special prize draw to win a brand-new tablet.
