It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Patsy Crosby

St. Ernan's Hill, Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Patsy Crosby, St. Ernan’s Hill, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. Patsy passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on the 1st of February, 2024.

Patsy is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridget, sisters, Molly and Annie, and brothers, Mick and Peter. He is deeply regretted by his loving wife, Bernadette, daughters, Ann, Breda, Pauline, Martina, and Bernie, sons, Padraig, Michael, and Kevin, sister Peggy, brothers Ned, Brian, Kit, Gerry and Gene. Patsy will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Shauna, Tadhg, Sophie, Sarah, Amy, Lucy, Katie, Rebecca, Ryan, Grace, John, Bobby, Bella, and Charlie, sons-in-law, David, Bernard, John, and Rory, and daughters-in-law, Fiona and Leanne. He is also remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, relatives, and a wide circle of friends.

Rest in Peace

Patsy will repose at his home, (A82K8PO) on Friday 2nd of February, from 4 PM to 8 PM. Removal from his home at approximately 11:30 AM on Sunday, 4th of February, to arrive at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, for the funeral Mass at 12 PM, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. House Strictly Private at all other times please.

Maureen Dixon

(née Carrie)

Morahan, Belmullet, Mayo / Bailieborough, Cavan

Maureen Dixon (née Carrie), also known as “Nurse Dixon”, Morahan, Belmullet, Co. Mayo and formerly of Bailieborough, Co. Cavan peacefully at the Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar on 1st February 2024.

Predeceased by her parents John and Mary Carrie and her sisters Betty Brady and Teresa Carty.

Beloved wife of Sean and dear mother of Mary Teresa Barrett (Attycunnane, Belmullet), J.J. (Killlala), Rosaleen Lally (Tallagh Road, Belmullet), Micheál (Sailín Harbour, Binghamstown, Belmullet), Raymond (Ardmore Point, Binghamstown, Belmullet) and Michelle Gibbons (Partry, Co. Mayo). She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, grandchildren Katie, Rachel, Cian, Kim, Amy, Leah, Padraig, Ruairí, Aoibheann and Meabh, great grandchildren Seanie, Myla, Corey, Sky and River, sons in law Gerry, Michael and Gerard, daughters in law Geraldine, Christine and Mary, brother Sean (London), sister Alice Callaghan (London), nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and many friends.

Remains reposing at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Saturday evening from 5pm until 7.30pm. Funeral arriving at the Church of the Holy Family, Carne, Belmullet on Sunday for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in Tarmoncarra Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to the “Patients Comfort Fund at the Belmullet Community Hospital”, c/o McDonnell Funeral Directors, Belmullet.

Valentine (Val) McGovern

Acton, London and formerly of Legnaderk, Corlough, Cavan

The death has occurred of Valentine (Val) McGovern, Acton, London and formerly of Legnaderk, Corlough, Co. Cavan on Tuesday, 23rd January. Pre-deceased by his partner Briggette, parents Pee and Hilda and brother Frank. Deeply regretted by his brothers Terry, Stephen, Brendan, Gerard and P.J. Sadly missed by his uncle Joe, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Removal to Our Lady of The Visitation Church, 358 Greenford Road, Greenford, UB6 9AN on Sunday, 11th February, at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, 12th February, at 1pm followed by cremation at Mortlake Crematorium, Kew Meadow Path, TW9 4EN.

Williamstown, Finea, Westmeath / Cavan

Marie Moore, nee Hennessy, Williamstown, Finea and formerly Tonagh, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan. Thursday, 1st February 2024 peacefully at Sheelin Nursing Home. Predeceased by her parents and brothers. Sadly missed by her loving husband Eugene, children Angela, Paul, Louise and Derek, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons in law, daughters in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her home on Friday evening from 5pm. to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 1 pm in St. Mary's Church, Finea. Interment afterwards in local cemetery.

Francis (Francie) Plunkett

Maughera, Finea, Cavan / Westmeath

Francis (Francie) Plunkett passed away peacefully at his home on St. Brigid's Day, Thursday, 1st February 2024.

Predeceased by his parents, Harry & Mary Plunkett and grandaughter Isla Fae Plunkett. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Shelia, children Gerard (Emer), Henry (Jasmine) and Frances (Damian), siblings Sr. Maria, Liam and Patricia, grandchildren Luella and Tadhg, Donnaacha, Maia, Faolánn, Isla (RIP) and Rhea, Oscar and Sonny, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Reilly's Funeral Home, Kilcogy (N39W1D6) on Sunday evening February 4th from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Monday the 5th at 12 noon in St. Mary's Church, Carrick, Finea (N91 TH22), followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Edward McKenna

Aughacla, Tydavnet, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Edward McKenna, Aughacla, Tydavnet, Co.Monaghan. Thursday, 1st February, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital.

Pre-deceased by his parents Mary Rose & Andrew and siblings Mary, Philomena, Patrick & Elizabeth.

Edward will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his niece Patricia, her husband Macartan and their 3 children.

May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Edward's remains will arrive at St.Dympna's Church, Tydavnet on Friday for evening prayers at 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
