It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.
Paul McEvoy
Gallonbawn, Crosserlough, Cavan / Down
Paul McEvoy, Gallonbawn, Crosserlough, Co. Cavan, (originally a proud Co. Down man - Kilkinamurray, Katesbridge, Co. Down) in his 82nd year, Died as he had lived, gently, and in the loving care of his much loved family, on May 8th, 2025.
Beloved husband of Phyllis who cared for him with such devotion throughout his long illness, cherished father of Damian, Olivia, Shane and Austin, adored grandfather of who he called 'The Magnificent Seven'; Adam, Rihanna, Ryan, Rhys, Ben, Rocco and Senin, daughters-in-law Joan, Suzetta and Joanne, siblings Sr. Elizabeth, Agnes, Peter, Seamus, Mary, Michael, Eamon (predeceased by Patrick, Bernard, Anthony, John and Leo), sister-in-law Sr. Geraldine Smith, and a much loved neighbour to all in Gallonbawn, Aughterera and beyond.
Reposing at his treasured Gallonbawn home (A82 FH30) on Friday May 9th from 4pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Crosserlough on Saturday May 10th at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
The McEvoy family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Cliona Grant and all the team at St. James' Hospital, Dr. Wilhelm Freiherr Von Hornstein and the Palliative/Public Health Care Teams in Cavan and Monaghan for their exceptional care and kindness.

Sean Monaghan
De Valera Park, Drumconrath, Meath / Carrickmacross, Monaghan
The death has occurred of Sean Monaghan, De Valera Park,Drumconrath, Co. Meath and formerly of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Friday 9th May 2025. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Margaret, brothers Francie and James, sister Madge Lennon and his wife Alice. Deeply regretted and sadly missed with love by his family Paul (Helen), Debbie (Fionn), Denise (Damien), Martina (Colm) Sean (Caroline), and their mother Mena, Alice’s grandson Graham, grandchildren Megan, Tiarnán, Saoirse, Eiléanóir, Oran, Lucy-Kate, Jake, Molly, Ciarán, Eoghan, Niamh, Aoife, Alannah, Sophie, Kayla, Emily, brothers Patsy, Michael (Ann) and Tony, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 C653, on Saturday from 3pm to 9pm. Removal on Sunday morning from Deery’s Funeral Home, at 10am to arrive at St Michael’s Church, Corduff, A81 X312 at 10.50am for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by private cremation to Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan.

Padraig Rice
Kinnegan, Castleblayney, Monaghan / Clones, Monaghan
The death has occurred of Padraig Rice, Kinnegan, Castleblayney, formerly Cara St., Clones and more recently Castleross, Retirement Village, Carrickmacross, Co.Monaghan. Thursday May 8th, peacefully at Castleross, Retirement Home.
Predeceased by his parents Patrick Gerard and Mary Theresa, brothers John and Brendan and his nephew John.
Padraig, deeply regretted and remembered with love by his family, brother Jimmy, sister Anna Hughes, brother in-law Brendan, sister in-law June, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
May Padraig’s Gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.
Padraig will repose at Wards Funeral Home Castleblayney (A75NP30) on Monday afternoon from 5pm until 7pm.
Removal from Wards Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 10am to arrive at the Sacred Heart Church Clones for funeral mass at 11am, followed by burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
