The team at Doran Motors, the authorised dealer for Skoda, Hyundai and Citroen in the Cavan Monaghan area, was delighted to receive a prestigious silver award in the Volkswagen Group 'Go to Zero' environmental impact and sustainability initiative.

Robert Guy, a member of the VGIE Board of Management with responsibility for ESG and Sustainability, recently had the pleasure of presenting the prestigious 'Go To Zero' certificate to partner Doran Motors.

Doran Motors recognises the importance of taking decisive action toward a more sustainable future. Compliance Manager, Sarah Byrne, commented: “We are not just discussing environmental responsibility - we are actively implementing it. We have a clearly defined environmental programme in place to actively push forward projects aimed at reducing our environmental footprint.”

Elaborating further, she said: “From the installation of solar panels at our Carrickmacross facility, generating clean, renewable energy, to the expansion of our EV charging infrastructure that supports the transition to electric vehicles, we are making a tangible impact. Additionally, our waste reduction programme is helping to significantly decrease our landfill contributions. These initiatives demonstrate our unwavering commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and fostering a greener tomorrow.”

Doran Motors Sales Director, Carol Kerr, acknowledges how lucky the dealership is to represent excellent franchises, Skoda, Hyundai and Citroen, which all have an impressive range of traditional ICE (Internal combustion Engine, Petrol, Diesel) models but who are also to the forefront in the move to BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) and Hybrids (a combination of both).

“There are excellent savings to be obtained in operating costs with electric vehicles and the range and technology is improving all the time. Prices are also decreasing in the electric sector, which makes it a good time to make the move to electric," said Carol.
