Hellfire Rally set for next month
The 2025 Oldcastle ALMC Hellfire Rally was officially launched in the heart of the town. A strong crowd, stunning cars, and tremendous local support made for a vibrant launch event ahead of race day on August 17.
Fourteen rally cars showcased the different stages from beginner to pro. On the race day “we can accommodate a maximum 165 cars in the main event,” says Noel Devlin, treasurer and event safety manager of ALMC.
Part of the Triton National Rally Championship, top drivers like Josh Moffett and Eddie Doherty are expected to compete at the Oldcastle stages running through Meath and Westmeath. Locals Jack Brunton from Virginia, and Paul McEnroe and Darragh Kelly from Oldcastle are looking forward to proving their skills on the challenging terrain surrounding Oldcastle as well.
From parc ferme at RESPA on the Virginia road, the first car will leave at 9am on Sunday, August 17, to tackle the first loop of stages. Travelling South to Drumone and Archerstown, the cars will be flying past Gigginstown before making their way up North through Mullaghmeen forest and back to service in BD Flood. The first car due back at the finish ramp in the Market Square is expected around 6pm.
New in 2025 are 15 spots for the 'Dacia Sandero Challenge'. With this less expensive option of rallying, Motorsport Ireland hope to attract younger and new people, explains Noel Devlin.
He is thankful for all the support the local volunteers put in, also from the neighbouring Cavan Motor Club.
