First field trip for Cavan whiskey lovers

THE newly-established Cavan Whiskey Society has already planned their first field trip for members in two weeks' time.

And the good news is that new members are welcome, and €50 secures your place on the planned trip to a distillery for some fine whiskey tasting.

On Saturday, August 9, the Cavan Whiskey Society will travel to Co Donegal to visit the Ardara Whiskey Distillery to enjoy a guided tour by owner and founder, James Doherty.

After the tour, travelling Cavan whiskey-lovers will get to indulge in some whiskey and gin tastings, including an exclusive cask tasting of a two-year-old pot still oloroso cask courtesy of a cask owner.

A bus will depart Ballyconnell at 9am on the day and return at 9pm that evening, with stops throughout including two hours of free time in Donegal Town when people will be able to grab a bite to eat and tour the area.

Stephen Soraghan of Soraghan Whiskey based in Belturbet is a member of the group’s organising committee.

He says there are limited places for this inaugural trip, which can be secured on a first come, first served basis with a €50 deposit.
