It is with regret that we note the following deaths over the past few days from Counties Cavan and Monaghan, as reported on RIP.ie

Marita (Mary Ita) Broderick

(née Curry)

Marino, Dublin / Cavan

On 30th July 2025 (peacefully) in the wonderful care of Nazareth House Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Marita, beloved wife of the late Tom, loving mother to Patrick, Declan, Marianne, Helena, Michele, and Trish. Pre-deceased by her brother Enda. Marita will be sadly missed by her family, sister Brid, brother Thomas, her cherished grandchildren Conor, David, Emer, Claire, Michael, Killian, Cathal, Isabelle, Sophie, and Nicole, sons-in-law, Brian, Gene and Patrick, daughter-in-law Anne, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

May her gentle soul Rest in Peace

Reposing at the Fanagan Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand, on Monday (4th August) from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral on Tuesday (5th August) to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Marino, arriving for 11.30am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in Balrothery Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Eugene Greenan

Manchester, England & formerly Owly, Ballyhaise, Cavan

The death has occurred of Eugene Greenan, Manchester, U.K and formerly Owly, Ballyhaise, Co.Cavan. Eugene passed away peacefully on July 16th 2025 in Manchester.

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Ellen Greenan (Owly) and his siblings Mary, Susan, Bridie, Paddy and Joe.

Eugene was born in Owly near Ballyhaise where he lived until his late teens before moving to England where most of his life was based in Manchester.

He is survived by his wife Bridget and his 5 children, Helen, Mary, Peter, Danny and Mark. He also had 6 adored grandchildren Elaine, James, Kate, Maddy, Harrison and Annabel.

May he rest in peace.

Eugene's Funeral Mass took place in Manchester on Monday July 28th and his remains will be brought home to be buried in the family plot in Cullies Cemetery on Monday August 4th at 11 o'clock.

Seán Rocks

Monaghan Town, Monaghan / Dundrum, Dublin

The sudden and unexpected death has occurred of Seán Rocks, Taney Manor, Dundrum, Dublin and formerly Monaghan Town, Wednesday 30th July 2025 in St. Vincent's University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Philly and his brother Eamon who died in infancy.

Seán will be deeply missed by his beloved Catherine, adored and adoring sons Christian and Morgan, his brothers and sisters Pádraig, Siobhán, Ciarán (Luisa), Gráinne (Kevin), his niece Hannah, his nephew Matthew, extended family, friends, work colleagues and his many listeners.

Seán will be reposing at Clerkins Funeral Home Milltown, Monaghan (H18YF22) on Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd from 3pm until 6pm. Seáns funeral procession will arrive to St Macartan’s Cathedral on Monday morning for 11am Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Seán's family would like to sincerely thank the Intensive Care Unit in St. Vincents University Hospital for the excellent and devoted care that they give Seán and them throughout their most difficult time.
