Machines to move on €55M build

Machines are expected to move on-site later this week ahead of full scale construction works on a major €55M housing development at Drumlark on the outskirts of Cavan Town.

The scheme is being progressed by the Fitzpatrick Heavey Group, one of Ireland’s top 20 residential developers. “Enabling works” will take place first ahead of plans to build the proposed 145 new homes pressing ahead “full time from early September”.

It follows the purchase of the 13-acre site from local businessman Brendan Cosgrove, with full planning pe rmission secured. In addition, Fitzpatrick & Heavey has agreed terms for a further 77 acres of adjoining zoned land, positioning the company to deliver additional phases in the future, subject to planning.

The development will offer a diverse mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom modern homes, built to the highest energy-efficiency standards.

The initial phase will be delivered over a two-year construction timeline, with completion scheduled for late 2027.

Fitzpatrick & Heavey currently has over 500 homes under construction across counties Offaly (Tullamore 150, Birr 75), Westmeath (Moate 35), Wicklow (Baltinglass 89) and Cork (Cobh 17).
