Knockbride set to hit the Ramor stage

The Knockbride Variety Show is back for its second year on the stage of the Ramor Arts Centre, with three unmissable performances in the coming weeks.

Fresh from four fantastic nights in their home base, Tunnyduff Hall, earlier this year, the group is excited to once again bring their unique mix of comedy, music, song and dance to Virginia. Now in its 14th year, the Knockbride Variety Show has become a much-loved fixture in the local calendar, growing bigger and better with each season.

Dedication

Last year’s debut at Ramor Arts Centre brought fresh challenges, as the team transported props, sets and costumes from Tunnyduff to Virginia, with only one full rehearsal in the theatre beforehand. However, thanks to the dedication of a hardworking backstage crew, everything ran seamlessly.

The commitment of the cast is equally impressive. Despite busy summer months filled with holidays, concerts and long evenings, they have continued to give up their time, rehearsing monthly to ensure the show stays fresh and polished. Their efforts were rewarded earlier this year with a brilliant audience response in Tunnyduff, where highlights included hilarious comedy sketches, powerful music and dance performances and a lively wedding sesiún finale that had the crowd on their feet.

Live music

A big part of the show’s atmosphere comes from its live music, with a talented line-up featuring piano, strings, guitar, accordion, banjo, whistle, flute and drums — ensuring every musical piece is bursting with energy and variety.

The Knockbride Variety Show is very much a team effort, with huge thanks owed to Director Terry Brady, Musical Director Thomas Hanley, and the hardworking Committee who put in tireless work behind the scenes all year round.

With the move to the Ramor now a little more familiar, the group is looking forward to once again hitting the stage. If last year’s performances are anything to go by, audiences are in for a real treat this September.

Tickets are available from the Ramor Arts Centre Box Office or Online at ramorartscentre.ie – early booking is advised.
